the r18 doesn't suffer from cracking engine blocks, that was an early defect in the block casting that was fixed after 2008, its one of the more reliable Honda engines, the issue only exists in the north American r18a1 not the European r18a2 or later versions.

I have a 23 Forester and I'm very very happy with my car. In my opinion; everybody who wants to spend 30.000$ or more, I'm sure they explore and investigate all options before deciding what to buy, like me. So, there is no sense in telling people what to do. It's a matter of taste and money.
